Accurate measurements are key to finding your ideal shoe size and width. Follow these simple steps:
- Measure Foot Length
Stand barefoot on a flat surface with your full weight evenly distributed. Using a ruler or tape measure, record the distance from the back of your heel to the tip of your longest toe (this may be your big toe or second toe). - Add Room for Comfort
Add 10 mm (≈ 3/8 inch) to your measured foot length. This extra space ensures natural movement and proper fit—this final number corresponds to the ideal footbed length for sizing. - Measure Foot Width
Measure across the widest part of your foot (typically the ball of the foot). Compare this width to the footbed dimensions for your calculated size. If your foot is narrower than the standard footbed width, consider a Narrow fit; otherwise, Regular is recommended.

Breaking in a new pair: Allow your feet to adjust to your new shoes by limiting wear to just a few hours the first five to six times.

Protect the Upper: Apply a water- and stain-repellent spray suitable for your material (e.g., leather, suede, or nubuck) every few months or as needed to enhance durability and resistance.
Oiled leather protection: apply a Leather Conditioner to keep it supple
Cork protection: apply a Cork Sealer to maintain its integrity
Air Footbeds Regularly
Remove the footbeds (if removable) and let them air out in a well-ventilated, shaded area. This helps reduce moisture buildup and prevents odor.
🚫 Avoid Immersing Cork Models in Water
Cork footbeds and soles can warp, crack, or lose structural integrity when soaked. Never submerge your sandals—wipe clean with a damp (not wet) cloth only.
🔥 Keep Away from Extreme Heat
Prolonged exposure to high temperatures (e.g., direct sunlight, car interiors, radiators, or fireplaces) can dry out cork, crack the sole, or weaken adhesives.
Repair, Don’t Replace
Birkenstocks are built to last—and many components (soles, heels, straps, footbeds) are repairable. Visit an authorized repair service to extend the life of your footwear sustainably.
Icon Footwear offers free express delivery on all orders over $200. For orders under $200, standard post delivery is available for $12, and express post delivery for $18. Please note that we do not ship outside of Australia.
Orders are generally processed and dispatched by 3:00 pm on weekdays (Monday to Friday). All shipments are sent via Australia Post. Delivery times begin after dispatch and vary depending on location: next business day delivery is possible for some capital cities, 2–4 business days for regional and rural areas, and up to 7 business days for remote locations, in line with Australia Post’s service standards.
During holiday periods and other special events (such as Christmas, New Year, and major public holidays), delivery timeframes may be affected. Customers are advised to observe the cut-off dates published by Australia Post for guaranteed pre-holiday delivery. Icon Footwear will also communicate any relevant shipping deadlines on our website and via email, but final responsibility for meeting postal cut-offs rests with the customer. Orders placed after Australia Post’s advised cut-off dates for a given holiday period may not arrive before the holiday, even if express shipping is selected.
We recommend selecting a delivery address where someone will be available to accept the parcel, as many Australia Post services require a signature or redirection to a local post office/parcel locker if unattended.
In almost all cases, if a product appears on our website and can be added to your cart, it is in stock. Should an item become temporarily unavailable after purchase, we will contact you by email or phone to advise of the expected availability or offer a full refund.
